Becoming Colonel Cullmann

I wrote and directed a short documentary about a man who plays the role of a town founder. This historical re-enactor isn’t from the town and doesn’t get paid for his work. So why does he do it? Screened at the Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, Alabama, this movie is now available for sale on DVD. It has a full interview with Larry Rowlette, the man who portrays Colonel Cullmann. Another extras include an interview with Annette Laing, PhD, a public historian and author who explains the significance of historical reenactments. Please visit our website for more information.

“I thoroughly enjoyed… Colonel Cullmann’s history while learning about Larry Rowlette and what makes him the present Colonel Cullmann.”  — Dr. Bill Peinhardt, Former President of the Cullman County Historical Society.
